so this isnt a joke. its serious business.
Whats your favourite flying related song?
For me its Tom Petty - Learning to fly...
BTW,I stole this thread from http://groups.google.com/group/rec.avia ... a848b0c586
I can think of more serious business, but off the top of my head "Take my breath away' by one hit wonder, Berlin.
Not much of a song, but the video was set in AMARC or similar aircraft breakers, with the band singing from the fuselage of a noseless Curtiss C-46. It came from the soundtrack of 'Top Gun' which famously showcased F5s, F14s, A4s and the legs of Kelly McGillis.
OK, back to the subject.
How about "Learning to fly" by Pink Floyd. I have it on the compilation album Echoes and if you listen very carefully you can hear Dave Gilmour going over a pre-flight check list in the background of one of the instrumental passages. Dave appears to have a piston-engined single.
RV-BLUE: You are correct - there was nothing wrong with the rest of Kelly McGillis either, but it was the legs that stole that hangar scene in Top Gun and stuck in my mind.
There was an entirely different sort of hangar scene in David Cronenberg's movie 'Crash' which I think involved a Cessna 414, but other things caught my eye. I've never been able to look at pictures of Deborah Kara Unger since without getting nasty little flashbacks.
On the backwards compatibility front, I'm proud to announce that I've managed to hook my MP3 player (2005 vintage) into my Cessna's intercom system (1966 vintage). It even mutes automatically when it picks up a conflicting signal from the radio. Now if I just had some decent music on the thing...
Yeah, I was wondering about that. Is is tricky to do? Choons when flying would be deadly.
Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast.
