Ballina Airfield Charity fly-in 16th September 2012

**POSTING ON BEHALF OF AIRFIELD OPERATOR**
The annual fly in at Ballina Airfield in aid of local charities will be held over the weekend of the 15th and 16th September 2012.
The main event is on Sunday the 16th, however a shin dig and a good evenings entertainment will be held on the Saturday night in Paddy Jordans bar next to the airfield.
Anyone wishing to avail of the special rate for a room can contact John Fallon directly on 087-8540001 / fallontv@eircom.net or you can camp/tent at the airfield free of charge where toilets/cooking facilities are on-site.
On Sunday the 16th Sept there will be a Display by Gerry Humphries in the RV as well as a BBQ all day.
Please come along, we hope to encourage as many UK visitors now that restrictions for microlight pilots/aircraft are lifted.
All proceeds from the event go to local charities.

Will arrive there in the Rallye Saturday afternoon and plan is to stay over night and chill out for the Sunday and fly home then in the evening

Any advice as to the actual runway surface? Is it fairly smooth or is there any nasty bumps to watch out for?

Yes, Runway good. Short grass with some gravel on spots, smooth. Fenced on both sides with electric fence wire. There is electric overhead cables quite close to the 01 threshold as shown on the picture that are well marked with florescent markers. Slight gradient from 01 to 19. Its a nice little strip that is close to town.

Once only landing fee from Fri-Sun for aircraft wishing to tour the area from the Sligo base.

Dropped in last Saturday on my way west. Field is in great shape even after all the rain lately.Plans are in place for a great weekend of flying and am looking forward to being there.

It was a very enjoyable afternoon at Ballina Airfield today.Great displays from HUM as useual.Nice BBQ to!! I was also at Sligo yesterday,not a bad turnout considering all the mist and murk about.
