Re: Carrickmore Charity Fly-in/BBQ 19th-20th May 2012Hi Ian,
Great idea, hope to be there on one of the days. Just one question - in The Aviators Guide to Ireland runway lenght given for Carrickmore is 375 meters, you say it is 505 meters. Which one is correct? Thanks. S.P.
Re: Carrickmore Charity Fly-in/BBQ 19th-20th May 2012At the time Aviatiors Guide was published the length was indeed 375 metres however there has been a runway extension at the 26 end of the runway which now gives a total length of 505 metres. The extension is currently gravelled but usable and will be tarmacked in due course.
The attached photo was taken in November 2011 and shows the extension work on the right-hand side of the pic.
Re: Carrickmore Charity Fly-in/BBQ 19th-20th May 2012Thank you nispot,
That's helpful, hope the weather on the day is good. Haven't been there before, it looks a nice spot. Regards S.P
Re: Carrickmore Charity Fly-in/BBQ 19th-20th May 2012Hope to make it this year. for us south of the border will we have to clear all the security and customs crap in Eglington or Enniskillen? any chance of getting 'special' treatment for the day at carrickmore?
Re: Carrickmore Charity Fly-in/BBQ 19th-20th May 2012All I always do is e-mail a GAR form and file a flight plan,
no matter where I go in NI Never heard of any security clearance, is there something you know I should know? S.P
Re: Carrickmore Charity Fly-in/BBQ 19th-20th May 2012unless you land at a designated airport when you fly into the UK and i include Northern Ireland in this
argument for that another day please you have to fill in a GAR form and notify PSNI 12 hours before arrival I just email it and forget about it gar@psni.pnn.police.uk or smallports@psni.pnn.police.uk once you have saved one on your computer its pretty easy to just paste in the new data each time you fly dead easy Declan Fogarty Ulster Flying Club
Re: Carrickmore Charity Fly-in/BBQ 19th-20th May 2012Re: RWY Length in Cmore - The AG was correct at time of print, but it has since been extended to 505m apparaently. Seems to be ok for most items of GA traffic, a short hard RWY being alot more useful than a soft bumpy field!
Re: Carrickmore Charity Fly-in/BBQ 19th-20th May 2012That's correct, the runway extension has been in place since around November and is situated at the eastern end of the runway. The extension is currently gravelled and is usable.
For those of you using the latest edition of Kevin Glynn's Flight Guide please be aware that he has allocated the runway numbers at the wrong ends of the runway in the photo for Carrickmore.
Re: Carrickmore Charity Fly-in/BBQ 19th-20th May 2012Hi Folks,
Carrickmore will be the first flyin in N. Ieland since the UK recently lifted the requirement for EI reg permit aircraft to seek permission to go there- all very welcome!
Re: Carrickmore Charity Fly-in/BBQ 19th-20th May 2012Hi folks,
The following items are scheduled to appear at C-More on Saturday 19th May: Aer Lingus Dragon Iolar is due to arrive around 12:00 to perform a flypast or two. Irish Coast Guard Sikorsky S-61 is due between 14:00-14:30, the crew hope to shut down for around 45 mins and folk will be able to have a look over her. We would like to discourage any aircraft movements around the arrival and departure times of the S-61 due to the considerable rotor wash caused by this large helicopter. All the best Ian
