[HD Video] Flying in the USAHi everyone,

Re: [HD Video] Flying in the USAHey guys,
Great videos, I'm thinking of doing a trip very similar to Killianaeros, flying out to LAX in December and thinking of hiring a plane for a week either from LA or San Fran. Just wondering where you rented from and if you've any tips for the trip. I was thinking of Lake Tahoe as a possible destination and from there on into Las Vegas, maybe coming back around the south via Death Valley. In a 172 or PA28 most likely. Thanks in advance
Re: [HD Video] Flying in the USAI live here and hold a US PPL , as a renter you will probably have to do a checkout on the aircraft you intened to hire , basically its like a flight test with the CFI of the rentel place . you may need renters insurance , AOPA can help , and after that it depends if the rental rates are "wet" , fuel in california is probably expensive because everyone flies . After all that is just the flying , most of the airspace is well marked on charts and out west , theres probably tons of small non-towered airports where you can land at .. enjoy the trip .!!!
Re: [HD Video] Flying in the USAHey Aidoair,
Thanks for that yeah was expecting a checkride alright. I understand you have the FAA license but have you any ideas how the Foreign license verification system works, I've just sent off the Verification of Authenticity of Foreign License form. Is it just a matter of going to the FSDO, LAX in my case, when I get out there, fill out some forms and pay a fee? I guess after crashing this thread I'll have to get a gopro and film the trip
Re: [HD Video] Flying in the USASorry I dont know how the license verification system works but i,m sure theres paprework by the mile !!! .
I did fly here on the Irish License way back in 1997 (pre 9-11) and the FAA issued me with a temp license based on my irish one . Basically I could log hours as Pilot in command under supervision , I couldnt fly solo but could log hours no problem . I,m sure now in this day and age theres TSA background checks and fingerprints and passports and all that stuff . The good thing about the FAA is that most if not all the dealings with them is online so it makes the process a little quicker . Get the Nflightcam + , way better that the GoPro in my opinion , I,ve 3 of them to date .! enjoy the freedome of the USA skies , you may never go back .!!!!
